First off I want it to be known that this list of top ten movies is not necessarily based on box office sales or any logic save my own. Some of them are the top of their genre others are just really cool. So sit back and enjoy the show......sport on
Tombstone
Let's face it, westerns usually suck. That was until this movie hit. There hasn't been a kick ass western like this since Silverado. Not only did we see an awesome assembly of talent, but some great scenery and costumes, which to me can make or break a movie. And of course there are the quotable lines of Doc Holiday. Hell, I was everyone's huckleberry after this flick. Now if Kurt Russell would just get this kind of quality in all of his movies.
Enter the Dragon
Barnone the top martial arts movie of all time. Period. The end. No way someone can say otherwise. SH...no, shush..don't even try. All seriousness aside, this is one kick ass movie. It has something that is totally foreign (besides Bruce) for a martial arts flick; a good story. And of course it has Bruce Lee laying the smack down on everyone who gets within legshot. WAAAAAZZAH!!!
Mallrats
Damn was this movie funny. Not only did it have plenty of comic book references, but it had bunny beatings, ass-scented hand shakes, tits, a vulgar dating game, and highflying stunts. Kevin Smith knows humor and it comes out in this film, its to bad it bombed at the theater...probably cause of Shannon Dougherty and all the bad press she was getting at the time. Damn bitchy Brenda.
Swingers
This movie is a must for any male who has ever been single and played the game of ass chasing. The cast is were nobody's then but you will recognize them now cause most of them have gone on to bigger and better things, but this is where they started. You will also find yourself quoting many of the lines from this movie as well as using the slang "money" for anything that is cool. Plus, you will die laughing at how honest and true everything is in the movie, from the video game playing to the "two day call back rule". It's stuff all of us guys have been threw. So go see it and be a bear to her rabbit.
Blade
the ultimate Snipes action flick is here. At last lil' Wesley lets loose with his martial arts and hits the mark right on. Sure the plot is cliche, but hey, it's based on bad comic book from the 70's. but this is also the best Comic book movie of all time. This is what Batman should have been. Top action star, top action budget, top action everything. now I know ya gotta have some story in there, but shit, anything is better than the last batman flick. Let's just hope that Snipes can keep this par with the next Blade film.
Willow
The
days of old where magic, chivalry and shit like that was still
around. Lucas took this genre concept and went nuts with. As with any
Lucas production everything in this movie was right; costumes, locations, FXs,
actors, adventure. Everything Lucas has made a name for
accomplishing. As per usual, Val Kilmer
steals most of the show as the stories resident bad ass. And
as with any really cool movie, it's got a midget....hell it's got
tons of midgets. Now if Lucas would make a sequel.......
the Crow
Take
away the fact that this was Lee's last movie and you still get a damn good
flick. And why you might say, cause it struck a romantic chord in everyone of
our souls. The ideal that someone could love so much that they
fought away death as to lay the hands of justice on those who have wronged you. Plus, knife dodging was never as cool as when Brandon did it.
the Matrix
Woah! That is exactly what I said the first time I watched this movie. This is what action movies should be from now on. And Keanu has definately made up for that johnny neumonic movie from a few years ago. Martial arts action, hot babes, big explosions, tons of bullets....what guy wouldn't love this flick. And there are dozens of literary references through out it so there is actually a thought process behind it all. Hell, who cares, the movie just KICKED ASS!!!!
Macross Plus
Anime, Manga, Japanamation, whatever you want to call it this one is the best
Star Wars Trilogy
No Sci-fi flick can touch it. this series is the best the genre has to offer. It's lucas in top form* on this ride. And what a ride it is. Lucas turned the classic characters into a space opera that no one has yet even come close to topping. and it was all cool cause it looked real. no CGI; just pure locations and set building. Plus we were introduced to a whole new world filled Lightsabers**, aliens, deathstars, and of course high adventure in space. If there is anyone who has not seen this series you are doing a great disservice to yourself and to your kids...if ya got any.
